Beauty blogger compares the staying power of luxury and value mascara brands

A beauty blogger tested the resilience of luxury and value mascara by spraying her face with pepper spray.

KY Col. Brandi, from the US, tested a fancy $24 (£18.19) Better Than Sex mascara against a cheap water-resistant $4 (£3.03) Wet’n’Wild mascara by putting one on each eye before spraying the repellent on her face.

Howling with pain and saying she’d like to shoot herself, KY found the more expensive eye make-up ran down her face while the cheaper one stayed in place.

After spraying the pepper spray in her face, she stumbles around and shrieks ‘Oh my god I want to eat a shotgun’

While enduring the pepper spray she says ‘It feels as though someone is taking a sander to both my eyeballs’.

‘Oh my god I want to eat a shotgun,’ she stammered moments after spraying both eyes.

‘Why does it feel so f****** dry? It feels as though someone is taking a sander to both my eyeballs.

‘I don’t think I can open them, I think this is how I’m going to live now.’

After shaking and stumbling around for 15 minutes, KY was finally able to open her eyees a little bit.

‘My nose is running so bad,’ she said, ‘but erm, honestly, the cheap one is lasting a lot better.’

Rating the two mascaras, she said the more expensive Better than Sex mascara was ‘not worth it’.

After 15 minutes she finds she can still only barely open her eyes because of the pepper spray

‘This $24 dollar one is not worth it and it was a fresh tube.

‘But this Wet’n’Wild $4 mascara hasn’t budged. Cheers to it for lasting the pepper spray.’

In the video KY is shown with one eye decorated with the luxury mascara, and the second with the value mascara. 

After spraying her face she stumbles around the garden stammering and shaking before giving her verdict.

Better Than Sex, made by fashion company Too Faced, describes itself online as the ‘number one prestige mascara in America’.

After 25 minutes she finds that the more expensive non-water-resistant mascara runs, whereas the water-resistant one does not
