We all know that variations on the theme of glowing skin have permeated nearly every aspect of the beauty industry. Even so, the extent of our addiction to all things radiant and light-bouncing hit home when I heard that sales of highlighting products at Liberty London have increased by 239 per cent since last year. Why? Not only is highlighting the cooler and prettier answer to heavy contouring, it also owes its popularity to the fact that it lifts and brightens us all. What’s more, we loved Fyodor Golan’s ultra-fresh take at London Fashion Week.
As for products, I am yet to meet anyone who doesn’t love Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette (£59, johnlewis.com) for the soft-focus glow it lends skin when you blend all three shades together with a brush.
Ideal for your handbag, Diego Dalla Palma Glow Up Stick Highlighter (£19.50, marksandspencer.com) can be patted on to skin with your fingers throughout the day for a golden glow that naturally catches the light.
Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighter Drops (£6.99, superdrug.com) now come in coppery Desert Heat – gorgeous on warm and dark skin tones. Whichever you choose, apply it over the top of your cheekbones, in the inner corners of your eyes, on to your temples and beneath brows – then add a smidge on your cupid’s bow. Whatever you do, just blend, blend and blend again.
Full disclosure: I stopped threading my brows years ago in the belief that full brows give a more youthful look.
