Makeup artists and influencers have shared their best tips for applying foundation that won’t ‘crease’ throughout the day – and the brands they trust to make it happen.
Whether it be using two different shades to give dimension to the face or swiping it across their skin with specific brushes and sponges, these ladies understand there is a fine art to the process.
While many of the products they rely on to get the job done are expensive it’s for good reason – and they will continue to be fan favourites so long as they provide flawless coverage.

The blonde, from New York, said she likes to use two shades – one that suits the person’s skin tone and another that is much darker – to create a contour along the side of the cheekbone.
Using the lighter shade in the centre brightens up the face, while the darker one gives more dimension.
She’s an advocate for Armani’s cult Luminous Silk Foundation and loves to apply it with an It Cosmetics #7 makeup brush or a beauty blender, Whimn reported.

One scroll through Janelle’s Instagram page showcases some of her incredible makeup looks to date, which usually include a bright eye shadow and matching lip colour.
But she’s also passionate about finding foundations that don’t drag on her dry skin.
So far she’s liking Pat McGrath Skin Fetish or the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Foundation because they both offer medium coverage with a dewy finish.
Her best tip is to apply them slowly with a kabuki brush and gradually build the coverage, otherwise it will crease and move too quickly.

When Penny applies her makeup she never starts with foundation.
‘I always begin the face by starting with your eyes, as I have found if you apply foundation first, the fallout from your powders and shadows will drop down onto your foundation and start to look muddy,’ she told the publication.
She agrees with Janelle and holds the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Foundation in high esteem because of the notoriously dry and cold winter climate in Australia.

The babe from Bondi always uses some kind of tool, rather than her fingers, to apply one of the four foundations she loves.
‘I absolutely love my Zoeva brushes – I think they have the best brushes in the game,’ she said.
Whether it be Clinique, Becca, Dior Beauty or Mac foundations she has available in her makeup bag, Sammy swears by these four companies for providing good quality product.

Known for her ability to turn any model into a bronzed beach babe before a shoot, Emma and Tobi are on the same page with their varied colours of foundation.
‘I generally choose a shade two to three shades darker and I contour with that around the cheekbones and jawline,’ she said.
She will then use a lighter colour to ‘stipple’ it all out with a really damp beauty blender, so the colours blend seamlessly.
Her favourite ultra-buildable option is the Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation because it’s waterproof and sweat resistant – perfect for a hot summer’s day.
