A beauty lover has shared the ‘seven skin rules to live by’ if you want a glowing complexion in 2023.
Natalie O’Neill, from the UK, has built up a huge TikTok following for her no-nonsense approach to skincare and jargon, which is extremely common in the beauty world.
In one of her most recent clips, Natalie shared the seven rules you should follow if you want luminous skin – and she said if you try them out now, you’re guaranteed to enjoy a ‘glow-up’ come this December.

The first rule Natalie said you need to follow if you want glowing skin is you should never try any more than one new product in any 30-day period.
The reason why this is important, Natalie said, if if you introduce more than one, you ‘won’t be able to identify which of the products are breaking you out’.
‘There is a second reason too and this is that you need at least one skin cycle to be able to tell what kind of effect a product is having on you,’ she said.
The typical skin cycle is around 28 days long, and it involves old skin cells being replaced by new skin cells which have moved upwards towards the surface of the skin.
Natalie’s second rule relates to skin cycles as well, as she said you have to stick with a skin routine for at least one skin cycle to see what it’s doing.
‘If you’re someone who is guilty of buying tonnes of new skincare products and you switch your routine up every couple of weeks, this is one that is calling your name,’ she said.
Elsewhere, the beauty buff said you should opt for ‘boring skincare only’, which means items that aren’t fragranced, and you should try and eat at least ‘1-2 skin food per week’.
These include spinach, healthy fats like nuts and avocado, salmon and berries.

‘In at number five is that you need to remember that skin isn’t just skincare,’ Natalie said.
‘If you’re someone who doesn’t get much sleep, you have high levels of stress or you don’t do much exercise, pick one of those things to improve upon in the next year.’
Finally, she said you should try and ‘kick your skin picking habit’, which she managed to ditch herself and noticed huge benefits.
‘And in at number seven, if in doubt, do nothing or see a derm,’ Natalie concluded.
She said she used to change her routine or pick her spots if her skin was suffering, but actually she would have been far better off leaving it.
‘Do nothing, and if you’re really really struggling, see a dermatologist,’ she said.
