A fitness coach has recreated a ‘low calorie’ version of the famous Grill’d chips – and she insisted they ‘taste exactly the same’.

Bec Hardgrave, from Brisbane, made the fries using Woolworths’ Macro Organic frozen straight cut chips, rosemary, oregano, thyme and flaky salt.

The 25-year-old claimed she got the herb mix recipe from a Grill’d employee.

Her version only has 146 calories while the burger chain’s thick-cut potato chips sprinkled with a herb mix contains 580 calories (2430kJ).

Ingredients to make the famous Grill’d chips

150g Macro Organic frozen straight cut chips from Woolworths

1 tsp flaky salt

Pinch rosemary

Pinch oregano

Pinch thyme

To make the fries, she baked them at 180 for 15 minutes, or until they are ‘crispy, golden and glorious’.

Meanwhile, she created the herb blend by mixing the ingredients together. Once the fries are ready, she simply sprinkled the herb mix over the top.

‘Did you know that the Grill’d famous chips for a regular is over 550 calories?’ Bec said in her now-viral TikTok video.

‘Grab these fries, and make this herb blend. It’s rosemary, thyme, oregano and flaky salt. It tastes exactly like the famous Grill’d chips. These are absolutely unreal and so quick and super easy to make. Yum. This whole serve was just 146 calories.’

Bec said the Woolworths’ frozen chips had the lowest calories and contained minimal ingredients.

‘Sometimes I can’t be bothered cutting up potato so I decided to find the frozen version… and these were it,’ she said.

One ex-Grill’d employee saying: ‘I can tell you that the chips are only seasoned with rosemary and sea salt. Definitely better off making them at home.’

While another worker claimed: ‘The blend I use at Grill’d also has sage.’

Many said they couldn’t wait to recreate the fries at home, with one woman saying: ‘These look to die for.’

While one added: ‘Oh wow! I can’t wait to try this.’
