Beloved celebrity chef Maggie Beer, 79, rushed to hospital after horror accident

Celebrity chef Maggie Beer has been rushed to hospital by her husband Colin after a fall in her Barossa Valley home left her with fractured bones and other injuries.

The Great Australian Bake Off star, 79, is now in recovery with a family member sharing a message with her followers on Instagram on Sunday night.

The loved one assured fans that the regular MasterChef guest star is in the best medical hands possible and will likely make a full recovery.

‘Hello Friends, it’s Maggie’s family here,’ the lengthy message began alongside a smiling image of the food author.

‘Just writing to let you know that following a fall at her home, she’s unfortunately suffered a couple of minor bone fractures and related injuries.

‘Thankfully Col, her husband, was there and she is now in the excellent hands of her doctors who are confident she will make a full recovery. It may just take a little while.

‘More than anything else, Maggie hates letting people down. But she has multiple events and public engagements coming up that she may have to miss.’

They continued: ‘She has asked us to apologise on her behalf to all those affected – and has asked for your patience as she recuperates.

‘Thank you for your understanding – The Beer Family.’

No time frame has been given on Maggie’s recovery as family members explain it will be based on day-to-day advice given by her doctors.

Some of Maggie’s famous friends flocked to the shocking post with words of support.

Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac wrote: ‘Wishing you a speedy recovery Maggie!’

‘Take care Maggie! We love you,’ Channel Ten star Narelda Jacobs said.

More to come.
