Beloved Los Angeles grandma met horrific end in freak accident after someone else’s suicide attempt went horribly wrong

A grandmother was killed when a suicidal man who jumped from a freeway overpass went through her windscreen and hit her.

Margarita Novela Galindo was in the passenger seat as her husband Florencio drove them along the 210 Freeway in Sylmar, Los Angeles, on August 9.

Bystanders called police at 7.17pm saying he was threatening to jump from the Roxford overpass, and he went over the edge before they could arrive.

The man hit the Galindos’ car so hard that he went straight through the windscreen and hit Margarita as she sat in her seat. He was taken to hospital in critical condition and it is unclear if he survived. His name has not been released.

She struggled in the ICU in critical condition for about three weeks until she died on Wednesday, her family said.

‘She fought bravely for nearly three weeks, but on August 28th, the doctors told us that she wouldn’t recover,’ her son David Galindo said.

‘Tragically, my mom passed away, leaving behind me, my brother, my sister, and her seven grandchildren. My dad is now alone without the love of his life.

‘It’s incredibly unfair that her life was taken because someone else didn’t want theirs.

‘My mom was a loving and caring person, and our family is heartbroken and struggling to cope with this unimaginable loss.’

Florencio, incredibly, forgave the man who jumped even though his desire to end his own life caused her death.

‘He doesn’t know what problems he may have had to commit suicide, but he doesn’t have any resentment,’ he told ABC7 in Spanish
