Tottenham’s Ben Davies has revealed he was ‘crippled with pain’ as he helped his side reach the Champions League final last season.
Davies played 48 times for Spurs and Wales last year but it’s only now that he’s untroubled by injury.
‘I was struggling with a groin problem all last season,’ says the 26-year-old left-back ahead of Sunday’s game at Everton.

‘I came back from the summer (2018) being told the problem would go if I rested it but it didn’t. After games, I was crippled with pain for a couple of days.
‘Going into games sometimes I was thinking in the warm-up, I don’t know if I will be able to get through it. I got to the end of the season on a few painkillers or whatever,’ he reveals.
‘In the end, I had an operation, the day after I played for Wales, after the Champions League final. It was called a double groin repair. It was something I needed to do.
‘I didn’t have much of a summer holiday. I went to California but took a physio with me and literally worked every single day.
‘I was a little bit concerned things weren’t going perfect when I came back from rehab but now I feel honestly perfect so I am very grateful to feel I am over that injury.’
