Freedom never tasted so good! Ben Fordham throws his wife Jodie Speers lavish 39th birthday lunch at new Sydney restaurant Roxy’s after lockdown

New South Wales is finally opening up after an extended lockdown amid the Covid pandemic.

And on Friday, Ben Fordham made the most of the new freedoms to throw a birthday bash for his wife of a decade, Jodie Speers.

The 2GB radio star, 44, took the newsreader, 39, to recently opened Double Bay restaurant Roxy’s for the festivities.

Among the high-profile guests in attendance were journalist Jessica Ridley and former radio producer turned media adviser Harriet Glenn.

Ben paid tribute to his wife of a decade on Instagram last week, writing ‘Happy birthday to the greatest thing to ever happen in my life’.

Fordham shares son Freddy, six, and daughters Pearl, four, and Marigold, one, with the Channel Seven presenter.

Earlier this year Ben praised Jodie for her role in their family.

Speaking with Insider magazine in May, the radio presenter described Jodie as the ‘captain’ of the plane.

‘I feel busy … but I will never fully comprehend how much Jodie does to keep this family ticking along,’ Ben told the publication.

‘I am probably the flight attendant and Jodie is the captain in the cockpit.’

‘I still think I’ve got a role to play, but without Jodie flying the plane there’s no flight and there’s no family — and there’s no question on that whatsoever.

It was due to be launched earlier this year, but had to be delayed due to Sydney’s hardline lockdown.
