Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow reacts to viral video after fans feared a wrist injury

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow laughed off concerns after a video of him ‘struggling’ to pick up a water bottle went viral after their Week 1 loss to New England.

After fans saw Burrow tending to the same wrist that ended his campaign early last season, fans began speculating the injury is not completely healed.

When asked about the clip during his press conference on Wednesday, Burrow denied that the injury is still bothering him. He added that he was trying to stay hydrated during the game.

‘I picked it up weird?’ Burrow said, confused, followed by a laugh.

‘I don’t know, I drink water. I can’t say I’ve seen that or know what anybody’s talking about,’ he added.

In the 16-10 loss in their season opener, Burrow made 21 of 29 attempts for 164 yards but struggled to get a touchdown. He also had four carries for 15 yards.

Burrow noted the difficulty of returning from an injury after not playing for an extended period.

‘You’re not quite sure how it’s going to feel,’ he said. ‘That’s part of it. Week 1, nobody’s panicking.

‘We got another opportunity on Sunday, and we’ve got 15 more opportunities after that to go and get better and show what we’re all about.’

Burrow played in 10 games last season and led Cincinnati to a 5-5 record before suffering his wrist injury. During that stretch, he completed 244 of 365 attempts for 2,309 yards and 15 touchdowns.

With him sidelined, the Bengals went on to miss the playoffs for the first time since their Super Bowl appearance to conclude the 2021-22 season.

Despite a rough start to their campaign, the Bengals will look to bounce back when they take on the reigning Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
