Best friends launch Australian-first gym membership for your face: Fayshell

A skincare-loving duo have developed Australia’s first membership based skin clinic that will change the way you book in for those ‘luxury’ services like skin needling and microdermabrasion.

Katelin Gregg and Ella James are the proud owners of newly-opened Fayshell in Bondi Junction, Sydney, which hopes to turn facials into a once-a-month necessity targeting your main skin concerns at an affordable price range.

Their exemplary business model encourages individuals to incorporate monthly facial treatments as a part of their ongoing beauty maintenance, like you would with a nail or hair appointment.

There are two subscription options to choose from with each visit to the clinic is totally customisable depending on what your skin needs, so you don’t have to sift through pages of vague treatment options.

Katelin and Ella have spent several years working in the beauty industry already running their beauty podcast Cosmechix, which educates millennials on all things cosmetic enhancements, skincare, and beauty through having honest conversations with industry experts.

After trying hundreds of products and in-clinic treatments the best friends continually noticed three key pain points for consumers in the skin industry.

When visiting a skin clinic the treatment menus are often too overwhelming, expensive and time consuming.

For these very reasons they found consumers viewed facials as more of a luxury enjoyed on special occasions once or twice per year.

This presented an opportunity for the women to create a business model solving these pain points, and after a successful fundraiser led by venture capital fund Shearwater Capital in June 2022, they set out to build the first location.

So how does it work? Instead of having a treatment menu all facials are carefully curated by a Fayshell therapist at a fixed price.

This empowers the team to select different ingredients and modalities to tailor the treatment and get the best results for their clients, without having to increase the cost.

Whilst Fayshell is predominantly a membership clinic, they do offer drop in prices for those wanting a one-off freshen up.

However the membership offers major value and cost savings as they unlock reduced pricing on facials, access to the LED lounge and a loyalty program.

‘Think of Fayshell as your skin gym. The monthly treatments are like PT sessions, they push your skin hard to get lasting results,’ Katelin said.

‘The LED members lounge is like the gym, the more you go the better your results, and your at-home skincare routine is like your diet, you need to be feeding your skin the right nutrients at home to maintain it’s fitness.

‘On your first visit to Fayshell you’ll receive an in depth consultation to discuss your skin concerns and goals, a dermal therapist will then map out a treatment plan and recommend which membership or tier is best suited for you.’

The basic membership is $159 per month and is for those who want an instant hit of hydration and glow.

This consists of a once monthly LED session, six step facial where the therapist will carefully select different ingredients, light peels and tools to customise each treatment to your concerns and five per cent cash back in loyalty points to spend on products or additional treatments.

The advanced membership costs $229 per month and is for those with concerns of anti-ageing, pigmentation, acne and acne scarring.

It includes unlimited LED sessions, a facial which could include any of our premium modalities (skin needling, advanced peels, hydradermabrasion, herbal peels, and electroporation) and five per cent cash back in loyalty points to spend on products or additional treatments.
