Sydney Opera House Head of Contemporary Music and Vivid LIVE Curator, Ben Marshall, said the show will be one to remember.

‘Solange Knowles is having her moment on the world stage right now,’ he said in a statement on Monday.

‘With A Seat At The Table’s exploration of black American identity, empowerment and the complexities of black womanhood, she is at the molten-hot intersection of effortlessly cool music and thoughtful activism.’

In 2016, Solange, who is the younger sister of music royalty Beyonce Knowles-Carter, went straight to number one on the US Billboard 200 chart with A Seat at the Table.

The album was hailed by fans for it’s politically-charged lyrics and nod to black womanhood, much like sister Beyonce’s chart-topping Lemonade album.

The duo made history when they became the first sisters to have number one albums on the Billboard 200 during the same year.

Solange’s Australian tour comes after she was forced to cancel her Afropunk performance at New Year’s Eve in South Africa due to health woes back in December.

At the time, the r&b superstar, who hails from Texas, was battling with an autonomic disorder.

‘Wrote, deleted and re wrote this like 5 times… Still not sure what exactly or how much I want to share,’ she wrote in a length Instagram post.

‘The past five months I have been quietly treating, and working through an Autonomic Disorder … It’s been a journey that hasn’t been easy on me,’

She added: ‘Sometimes I feel cool, and other times not so cool at all. It’s a complicated diagnoses… right now, my doctors are not clearing me for such an extended lengthy flight, and doing a rigorous show right after.’

In 2014, Solange made headlines over an elevator incident involving her brother-in-law Jay-Z.

Earlier this month, the talented artist was named Harvard Foundation artist of the year.
