Bicycle ridden with a thousand fireworks blasts off

  • A bicycle carrying 1,000 rockets blasts off and lights up the sky in Lincolnshire
  • Video shows British inventor Colin Furze, 37, building his custom rocket bike
  • He’s made a button on the bike’s handlebars so he can set off the rockets anytime
  • The result is a spectacular – slightly excessive – display of fireworks at night

A bicycle secured with 1,000 rockets behind it has gone for a ride in Licolnshire, lighting up the sky in a spectacular display of fireworks, the latest achievement by British inventor Colin Furze.

Video shows Mr Furze riding – and about to blast off – on his custom-built rocket laden bicycle near his Lincolnshire home.

The 37-year-old inventor is a well-known creator of crazy inventions, a lot of which include explosions.

Waiting for the sun to set, Mr Furze sets off batches of the fireworks by pushing a button on the bicycle’s handlebars. He essentially turns into a moving parade of firework.

He said: ‘When I was sitting on the bike, I was only one foot away from the first box of rockets, so I was quite nervous.

‘I’m not usually too worried about trying out my inventions but I knew with this one that once I pressed the button I couldn’t reverse it.’

Mr Curze, a former plumber, was not harmed.
