Big Brother: Lewis removed from the house after ‘making a comment about Auschwitz’

Big Brother’s Lewis Flanagan was allegedly removed from the house for making a comment about Auschwitz that won’t be aired,The Sun reports.

A source told the publication that the 27-year-old mistakenly said ‘Auschwitz’ instead of ‘outfits’ during a conversation with housemate Cameron, resulting in his ejection on Friday.

It came after Lewis admitted that he was ‘not ashamed’ of his behaviour after being told by Big Brother that he was to be removed, adding that it was a ‘slip of the tongue.’

The source said: ‘Lewis was talking to Cameron and told him: ‘When we get out of here, we’ll sort you out with some Auschwitz’.

‘He said he was supposed to say ‘outfits’. He’s told people it was a slip of the tongue and he didn’t know why he said it.’

The Sun also reports that viewers will not see the incident in question on-screen in Sunday’s highlights show, though they will see the housemates reaction to Lewis’ departure.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Big Brother for further comment.

This came after a statement was posted to Twitter on Saturday from an account believed to be run by Lewis family in his absence.

It said: ‘Please do not believe all the allegations that Lewis was asked to leave due to RACIAL, SEXUALITY OR HOMOPHOBIC comments.

‘I can confirm this was NOT what happened. He’s fine and in good spirits and once he’s caught up with his family he will be reaching out to you all.’

Evicted housemate Tomasz Wania had shed some light on Lewis’ departure earlier in the day, explaining that it left close friend Cameron devastated.

He told Digital Spy: ‘Obviously, Cameron was crying. I tried to comfort him, but then we had to focus on the eviction and switch to that mindset.

‘At the end, it’s a process. Everybody will go at some point. We just have to get along with it, and do our best.’

These revelations come after Lewis removal was played during Friday’s eviction, with Big Brother telling him he had used ‘unacceptable language.’

Asked whether there was anything he’d like to say, the barman said he was ‘not ashamed’ of his behaviour’ and it had been nothing more than ‘a slip of the tongue.’

‘I would say I’m devastated. I didn’t mean to offend anyone, it was a slip of the tongue,’ he said.

‘I never once tried to offend anyone or hurt anyone’s feelings. It’s unacceptable. I’m not ashamed of myself because I didn’t try to offend anyone, it was just a slip of the tongue. Unfortunately for me my bad language and misuse of certain words has exploded in my face.

‘I never meant to upset anyone, hurt anyone’s feelings or disrespect any kind of background, sexuality, race, gender or religion. So yeah, I’m sorry. Obviously I’m going to pay the price.’

Many viewers were furious that the actual language in question was not revealed at the time, taking to Twitter to ask in unison what Lewis had said.

One tweeted: ‘So I’m guessing they’re not gonna tell us what Lewis said,’ while another added: ‘Have I missed part of tonight’s show where we see what Lewis said that got him kicked out of the house?’

It is expected that the incident that caused Lewis’ removal will be seen during Sunday’s highlights show, but this has not been confirmed.

Gone: Lewis exit was revealed hours ahead of the eviction, to the devastation of many fans

A spokesperson for the Channel 5 show said the fan-favourite housemate exited the Elstree house with immediate effect on Friday, but the statement did reveal why at the time.

Despite numerous clashes with his fellow housemates Lewis had been a fan favourite thanks to his close friendship with Cameron, and despite surviving several evictions was the bookies favourite to win.

The statement – which was also posted to the show’s Twitter – said: ‘Lewis has been removed from the Big Brother House for unacceptable language that contravenes the rules. Lewis has left the house with immediate effect.’

It comes just over a week before the last ever series was due to end, with the final scheduled for Monday 5th November.

Lewis had remained a controversial figure throughout his time in the Big Brother house, coming to blows with many housemates including Lewis G and Hussain.

On Thursday fans saw the hunk once again come to blows with Akeem, as they were trapped in a cell as part of the prison shopping task.

But he also formed a close friendship with 18-year-old Cameron, helping the video blogger in coming to terms with his sexuality, and supporting him in his decision to come out to the rest of the house.

Before his departure Lewis had remained the bookies favourite to win, despite surviving eviction twice and being one of the most nominated housemates.

Fans were always quick to support him when he spoke about his struggles with anxiety, especially at one point when he suffered a panic attack during the Big Brother airlines shopping task.

It is now unclear whether this will affect the number of housemates who make it through to the final, as it seems too late to send in someone to replace Lewis.
