A Big Brother star has revealed she threw away in excess of $100,000 on booze over ten years before overcoming her crippling alcohol addiction.

Jules Rangiheuea, who entered the Big Brother house as an ‘intruder’ last year, says she was spending more than $200 a week on alcohol from the age of 18 before going dry at the beginning of 2023.

The 29-year-old podcaster shares the challenges of her newfound sobriety on her own TikTok account – Recovering Party Girl.

Her inspirational stories have attracted 198,000+ likes and 9.3 thousand followers.

‘I’ve always been known as the party animal and the bender queen,’ Jules explained in an interview with News.com.au.

‘I was celebrated for these qualities, it became my entire personality. I’d even have strangers come up to me and say ‘”I heard you’re a great time on the p**s”.

‘It honestly got to a point where I felt like this was all I was known for…I didn’t even know if I knew who I was without alcohol.’

Jules said drinking was part of the culture of growing up in Perth, which she describes as a ‘coastal party town’.  

She said the lifestyle ‘normalised’ heavy drinking, including partying mid-week followed by ‘drinking all weekend’.

She would spend entire days in bed trying to recover from excessive partying.

Sober since the beginning of the New Year, Jules said sobriety has been a massive challenge, but giving up the booze has made her happy.
