Big Brother’s Rebekah Shelton reveals reality show ‘sent her crazy’ and says there ‘wasn’t much help’ provided after leaving the famous house

Former Big Brother star Rebekah Shelton has revealed her time in the famous house ‘sent her crazy’.

The 37-year-old appeared in the 2009 series as Rodrigo Lopes before undergoing gender reassignment surgery five years later.

Speaking to The Sun, she said: ‘My mind just went a bit crazy after Big Brother, and it took me a while to get back to me,’

Rebekah moved from her native Brazil to study in Leeds before signing up to appear on the Ch4 reality show where she finished fifth.

She claimed producers ‘played with [housemates] emotions’ and worked out how to pit them against each other before discussing the show’s after care.

With her family in Brazil, Rebekah confessed going back to living by herself was very hard after nearly three months of being with her fellow housemates.

Following her stint on the show, she went on to appear on Judge Rinder in 2016 where she was questioned over a missed payment for a boob job.

Then in 2018, the reality star was reported to have died in a hoax before claiming her account was hacked during an appeared on The Jeremy Kyle Show.

Admitting all these years later: ‘I’m not proud of many things that I’ve said, because I said things that I actually regret, and maybe I had some bad influences saying things to me but also I get the blame for saying things that I shouldn’t have said.’

She now works in IT and has settled into a normal life with her cat in Devon.

It comes after reports that ITV2’s Big Brother reboot will feature some of the reality show’s most iconic former housemates.

According to The Sun, ‘Nasty Nick’ Bateman, Chanelle Hayes and Nadia Almada are just some of the names producers are hoping will return to ‘recapture the magic’ of the original series.

Nick, now 55, made headlines during the show’s first season in 2000 when he slyly attempted to turn his fellow housemates against each other, before being caught and booted from the show.

Meanwhile, Chanette, 35, appeared on the show in 2007 where she struck up a romance with fellow housemate Ziggy, and Nadia, 46, won the 2004 series.

Other possible returnees include Makosi Musambasi, who famously claimed to have fallen pregnant in the house, despite not having sex in 2005.

As well as Kinga Karolczak who drunkenly showed viewers at home an X-rated party trick with a wine bottle.
