Bill Belichick was congratulated on Wednesday night by his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, and his longtime quarterback, Tom Brady, after being named the new head of UNC.
Belichick is joining the school on a reported three-year, $30million contract, and Hudson took to Instagram to celebrate the coach’s new gig.
‘We are onto Chapel Hill!!!’ the 24-year-old wrote as she re-posted a photo from UNC announcing Belichick’s hire.
Brady, who played under Belichick for 20 years in New England, also added a message of support on social media.
‘Congrats coach,’ he wrote. ‘The Tar Heel way is about to become a thing.’
Belichick was known for establishing ‘The Patriot Way’ during his more than two decades in New England, as he created a team-first culture that went on to propel the franchise to six Super Bowl wins.

Now, he’ll look to turn around a sputtering UNC football program, as the school has not won a conference championship in the ACC since 1980.
The Tar Heels went just 3-5 in conference play this year and Belichick reportedly has big plans to turn around the program.
According to Ollie Connolly of The Guardian US, Belichick gave the school a 400-page ‘organizational bible’ to follow – which he required to accept the job.
The document is said to require ‘historic’ levels of investment from the school and lays out payment plans for his coaching staff.
Ultimately, UNC and Belichick were able to agree to terms and he was quoted on Wednesday after the news was made official.
‘I am excited for the opportunity at UNC-Chapel Hill,’ Belichick said, before referencing how his father Steven was a coach on the team in the 1950s. ‘I grew up around college football with my dad and treasured those times. I have always wanted to coach in college and now I look forward to building the football program in Chapel Hill.’
It was also later confirmed that Michael Lombardi will be Belichick’s GM in Chapel Hill.
The executive, who served as an assistant to the Patriots’ coaching staff under Belichick from 2014-16, has been known more recently for his roles across sports media.
He also served as the Browns’ GM and vice president in 2013.
‘I’m excited to join Coach Belichick at North Carolina,’ he said. ‘I’m excited to return to helping build a winning program.’
Belichick will now have roughly nine months to get to work in Chapel Hill before the Tar Heels open their 2025 season on August 30 against TCU.
