The sources who had knowledge of the meeting said they didn’t know exactly what was spoken about by ‘growing philanthropy’ was the main focus.

The Microsoft founder never actually came on board to help Epstein with his philanthropic work and he eventually ended their communications.

Gates and his wife Melinda run the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which among other things, aims to empower young girls.

Details of the meeting emerged just days after flight records revealed Gates had flown with Epstein on the Lolita Express on March 1, 2013.

A representative for Gates did not respond to a request for comment but the two men both own property in southern Florida.

The pair had spent time together previously, most notably at the annual Edge Dinner, which each year welcomes billionaires from around the world to discuss advancements they are working in on the worlds of math, science and technology.

The 2013 dinner took place just two nights before they flew to Florida but neither of the men were pictured attending that year’s event.

Epstein had previously claimed he worked as a financial adviser to Gates for some time but that was later denied by a representative for the Microsoft founder.

Gates wasn’t the only famous name to fly with Epstein on his jet.

Famed newsman Walter,  architect Peter Marino and a passenger identified as John Roberts. Roberts flew with Epstein on at least two occasions in March 2010 and February 2011, according to flight records.

This in addition to the already noted famous guests, including Bill Clinton, Naomi Campbell, Kevin Spacey, Chris Tucker and Prince Andrew.

It comes as questions continue to emerge about the billionaire financier’s death after he died in an apparent suicide while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

His autopsy found his neck had been broken in several places, including the hyoid bone, the Washington Post reported late Wednesday.

Forensic experts say breaks to the hyoid bone can occur if someone hangs themselves but they are more common in strangulation.

Epstein, who was found dead in his jail cell in New York City on Saturday, had pleaded not guilty in July to charges of sex trafficking involving dozens of underage girls between 2002 and 2005.

Prosecutors said he recruited girls to give him massages, which became sexual in nature.

Attorney General William Barr has said the criminal investigation into any possible co-conspirators would continue.

Barr, whose agency oversees the Bureau of Prisons, has also demanded an investigation into Epstein’s death and ordered the removal of the prison’s warden.

The disgraced financier had been on suicide watch at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in lower Manhattan but was then put back in a regular cell.

Sources have said guards did not follow procedures to check on Epstein frequently and that he was left alone in his cell for as long as three hours.
