Bill Murray accepts Puerto Rico donations for autographs

Bill Murray is doing what he can to help hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico.

The 67-year-old Ghostbusters actor was spotted accepting cash in Washington DC on Monday with all the money going to Puerto Rican charities. In exchange, the fans received his autograph.

The best friend of George Clooney set the minimum contribution at $20 and turned away one fellow who offered only $3 as seen in a video shared by TMZ.

The veteran actor and often eccentric dresser was decked out in navy overalls with tartan braces over a black and gray t-shirt.

Murray looked comfortable in sneakers and a beanie. Around his neck he wore a pair of Clic magnetic reading glasses.

As the Groundhog Day star signed, autograph seekers jostled for the actor’s attention. As one fan grew particularly impatient, Murray asked him: ‘Hang onto your trousers will you, fella?’

Another fan handed over a note, not expecting an autograph and while the Academy Award nominated actor took the cash, he didn’t seem pleased, saying: ‘Five dollars? That’s all you’ve got?’

Another fan had even less, offering just three singles, and Murray wasn’t having it.

‘Three dollars?’ quipped the funny man. ‘Alright, go get a job and come back.’

The actor is known for doing unpredictable things as he engaged with his fans.

Earlier this month, Murray was at a Chicago Cubs game when two spectators – Robbie Schloss and his wife Kirsten – asked for the star’s help in notifying their parents that they are expecting their first child in April.

Robbie posted a video on his Instagram page which began by showing him and his wife before quickly panning to Murray.

‘Hey, I got news for you … you’re going to be grandparents!’ Murray says while pointing at the camera.
