In her latest snap the 19-year-old singer declares ‘i’m tireeeddddddd’ as she sits in a car wearing an argyle sweater. She shoots a sultry look at the camera as she displays her tousled platinum blonde locks.

It comes after Eilish shared some behind-the-scenes photos from her new video Lost Cause which she captioned ‘i love girls’, leading some fans to speculate that she is trying to appear as though she’s on the LGBTQ+ spectrum.

The video dropped earlier this month but it was Eilish’s ‘i love girls’ caption last week that caused confusion amongst her fans with many speaking out in the comments section of the post.

A TikTok user with the handle Wap.Lover uploaded a message in which she penned: ‘Acting sexual with girls to draw in more audience is gross.’

Some music lovers suggested Eilish might be coming out in the post and others praised her video saying she looked ‘confident’ and ‘stunning as ever’.

Despite the praise, others were a little uneasy about it and wrote: ‘Funny she is posting this in June, pride month. Bestie you better not be queer baiting.’

And another added: ‘Bye I literally cannot. It’s like if she’s coming out good for her but if she claims to be straight after this, bestie it’s queer baiting sorry…’

While a third put: ‘I really hope this isn’t queer baiting’.

Eilish has recently been romantically linked to actor Matthew Tyler Vorce and is yet to speak publicly about her sexual orientation.

What is queerbaiting?

Urban Dictionary defines queerbaiting as: ‘A marketing technique used to attract queer viewers that involves creating romantic or sexual tension between two same-sex characters but never making it canon or evolving on it.’

The term is also used regarding the music industry when artists seem to use their sexuality or hint at it to attract fans, without disclosing their sexuality.

Singers who have been accused of queerbaiting previously include Rita Ora, after releasing her song Girls, and Ariana Grande after releasing Monopoly.

Recently, actress Dove Cameron revealed part of the reason she came out as bisexual was because fans thought she was engaging in queerbaiting.

TV shows have also faced accusations of queerbaiting, with viewers of The 100 and  Supernatural previously debating characters, reports the BBC.
