Billie Piper and Laurence Fox return to the High Court

Billie Piper and ex-husband Laurence Fox have returned to the High Court today 18 months after they were granted a ‘quickie’ divorce.

The former couple’s nine-year marriage was ended in a ruling that took just 50 seconds in May 2016 but they were back at the Central Family Court in London this morning.

It is unclear what the hearing related to today but it is likely to have involved financial matters or child custody arrangements.

Piper, 35, who rose to fame as a singer in her teens before launching a successful career as an actress, has two sons with Fox – Winston, nine, and Eugene five.

Representatives for Piper declined to comment on the matter while MailOnline has also approached representatives for Fox.

Since the split, Piper has gone public with her boyfriend of one year Johnny Lloyd, a musician who spent much of the summer playing with rock band Mystery Jets.

The actress appeared to confirm the relationship after wishing him luck on Instagram.

Meanwhile Fox has been dating DJ and television presenter Lilah Parsons, 29, the niece of former MI5 boss Eliza Manningham-Buller.

The couple have been spotted holding hands and kissing on romantic dog walks in north London.

She is the daughter of courtier Sir John Parsons, who was appointed as an Extra Equerry to the Queen in 2002, and has previously modelled for Chanel, Vivienne Westwood and Swatch.

Piper and Fox wed in 2007 after meeting in a stage production the previous year but their separation was announced last year via a Facebook post.

At last year’s hearing neither the Doctor Who actress or Lewis star Fox were present when her request for divorce was granted because the marriage had ‘irretrievably broken down’ on the grounds of his ‘unreasonable behaviour’.

But in a joint statement released shortly afterwards, the couple clarified they had sought a decree nisi on those grounds because it was the ‘closest option in English law to a no fault divorce’.

The statement said: ‘Billie and Laurence wish to clarify that the legal wording referred to in connection with today’s reported Decree Nisi is the closest option English law currently offers to a timely no fault divorce.

‘They will continue to co parent their children with the utmost mutual respect for each other. Billie and Laurence appeal for privacy at this time.’

‘Unreasonable behaviour’ is among one of the most common wordings of divorce proceedings and can cover a number of problems, though around three to six examples are expected in petitions.

The actress had the word Fox tattooed on her engagement finger during the previous relationship but has since had the letters blacked out.

Piper was previously famously married to TV presenter Chris Evans at the age of 19, which meant that there was a 16-year age gap between the two of them.

Evans, now 51, and Piper married in Las Vegas in 2001, separated in 2004 and divorced in May 2007 but remain good friends.

Piper met Fox when they performed together in the stage play Treats in 2006, calling it ‘Love at first sight’.

They married on 31 December the following year, in the 12th century parish church of St. Mary’s Eastbourne, West Sussex.

The couple initially lived together in a country cottage in the market town of Midhurst, West Sussex but moved to a four-bedroom home in London in 2014 following reports that she was going ‘stir crazy.’

Last year Fox moved into music with debut album Holding Patterns and following the split fans suggested the record hinted at problems in the marriage due to the ‘personal’ lyrics.

Piper was signed a recording contract at the age of 15 and her debut single Because We Want To went to No.1, making her the youngest ever artist to top the charts with her first record. She also had a double platinum selling album Honey to the B.

She became an actress in 2004 and her most famous role was Rose Tyler as a companion to Dr. Who from 2005 to 2006.

She also played Bell de Jour in the TV series Secret Diary of a Call Girl.
