Blake Lively reveals the ‘beautiful, romantic thing’ Ryan Reynolds did every week when they started dating 13 years ago

Blake Lively has divulged the ‘beautiful, romantic thing’ her husband Ryan Reynolds did weekly for her early in their relationship.

They started dating in 2011, one year after filming the superhero movie Green Lantern, with him in the title role and her as his love interest.

Ryan, 47, and Blake, 36, exchanged vows in 2012 and are now the proud parents of four children, the youngest born just this February.

Now, however, Blake has cast her thoughts back to the beginning of her love story with Ryan and the way he won her heart.

The Gossip Girl star gushed about the thoughtful gift that Ryan used to send her every week, in a new interview with People.

‘When my husband and I first got together, he would send me a bouquet of flowers every week, but he would always send a card and it would just be a sentence of something that had happened that week,’ she shared.

‘Something funny or emotional that one of us said. It was just a little quote of the week. It was such a beautiful, romantic thing. Now we have 4,000 children!’

Blake made the revelation while promoting her new movie It Ends With Us, in which she plays a florist aptly named Lily Bloom.

Based on a romance novel by Colleen Hoover, It Ends With Us follows Lily’s tempestuous marriage, which goes from passionate to abusive.

Ryan and Blake have been married since 2012 and now share four children – daughters James, nine, Inez, seven, and Betty, four, and son Olin, one.

Blake’s latest interview comes days after she launched her new haircare line Blake Brown – prompting her Ryan to share how ‘proud’ he is of her.

Ryan, who is basking in the barnstorming success of his new film Deadpool & Wolverine, quipped: ‘Also, I just found out her last name is Brown.’

The movie unites two heavyweights of the superhero genre – Ryan, who plays Deadpool, and Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine.

Blake featured in Deadpool & Wolverine as the voice of a character called Ladypool, while her and Ryan’s seven-year-old daughter Inez had a cameo as Kidpool.

The couple welcomed their new baby in February 2023, but waited until recently to announce they had chosen the name Olin.

Blake and Ryan were mocked on social media for the ‘weird’ selection – a Nordic name that refers to the heir to an ancestor.

Then, on the day that Deadpool & Wolverine was released in theaters, Ryan starred in a promotional video for the film and disclosed his baby is a boy.

He dropped the bombshell during a heartbreaking conversation with a man called Josh Bell, whose late son Jake was a fan of Deadpool.

‘I want to share with you that I too have a son, and if I love him one tenth as much as you love Jake, I feel like I’ve done a pretty damn good job,’ said Ryan.
