Blake Lively’s involvement in film adaptation of popular Australian author Liane Moriarty’s book unlikely – following negative publicity

Blake Lively’s appearance in the upcoming adaptation of a best-selling Australian novel is uncertain, amid controversy about her behaviour.

The Gossip Girl star, 37, had been attached to the proposed film based on Australian author Liane Moriarty’s thriller The Husband’s Secret since 2017.

However, novelist Liane, 57, revealed on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Thursday that she was no longer sure if Blake would be appearing in the production.

‘Blake Lively was attached to it, but I don’t know if she’s now detached,’ Liane told the hosts.

In 2017, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Lively would be playing the lead character in an adaptation of the popular 2013 novel by Moriarty, whose other novels Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers were turned into popular TV shows.

This is the latest in a series of professional setbacks for Lively, who has been the subject of recent criticisms over her allegedly ‘rude’ behaviour.

The veteran actress has been embroiled in a firestorm of negative publicity and public outrage in response to her lighthearted and sarcastic promotion of her new film It Ends With Us, which portrays a couple in a violent relationship.

Netizens are in an uproar about Blake’s joking response to a question posed by reporter Jake Hamilton during a virtual sit down with her co-star Brandon Sklenar.

When asked how she would respond to an affected viewer approaching her with their story, the actress was sprawled on a couch with her head leaning on her bent arm and replied sarcastically.

‘Maybe asking for, like, my address, or my phone number. Or, like, location share?! I could just location-share you and then we could…’

Blake Lively is known for playing leading ladies in romantic dramas and has also come under fire for lightheartedly telling women to ‘wear their florals’ to the cinemas for the occasion.

It Ends With Us is based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel published in 2016.

For the past month, Lively has faced criticism for how she has promoted the film amid allegations of a rumored rift with Justin Baldoni, who plays her on-screen love interest.

Additionally, she’s endured backlash over her past ‘mean girl’ behavior and comments in multiple resurfaced interviews over the years.
