On top of frigid temperatures across the Eastern Seaboard and Midwest, a blizzard is expected to bring snow and wind to the Atlantic Coast later this week.
AccuWeather reports that a storm with ‘hurricane-force winds’ and ‘frigid air’ is developing across the Atlantic Ocean and will make landfall from Florida to Canada through Wednesday and Thursday.
Maine and New Brunswick, Canada could face at least a foot of snow from the storm coupled with blowing and drifting due to the high winds.
The weather analyst cautions that the storm could cause major travel delays, fortunately after rather than during the holiday travel rush.

In particular, high winds could cause flight delays across much of the Northeast.
Snow is expected to drop from northeastern Florida – a subtropical area – up to Canada.
Even Miami, which has a fully tropical climate, is expected to see highs in the low 60s (Fahrenheit) on Thursday and Friday, according to the Weather Channel. A bit farther south, Havana, Cuba is expected to see highs in the high 60s.
The storm is not expected to reach very far inland, likely stopping before hitting the Appalachian mountains.
Meanwhile, Arctic air is expected to continue pummeling the Midwest and the Eastern Seaboard through the week, with a minor respite expected on Wednesday.
Already, wind chills as low as 58 degrees below zero have been felt across the Dakotas and Minnesota, the Weather Channel reports.

Iowa has seen record low temperatures in the -20s; Sioux City experienced its coldest New Year’s Eve since 1989.
Des Moines saw temperatures as low as -19 degrees this morning; meanwhile, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania saw temps as low as -2.
Wind chill advisories from the National Weather Service are in effect across much of the Midwest and New England.
In certain particularly frigid areas, weather analysts caution that skin exposed to the elements for more than 10 minutes could develop frostbite.
With the upcoming expected blast of Arctic air, the Weather Channel projects that cities including Baltimore, New York City, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. could all see record low temperatures in the coming days.
