Blue Mountains property sale where Charlise Mutten allegedly murdered

The multi-million dollar Blue Mountains Wildenstein estate where nine-year-old Charlise Mutten was allegedly murdered is being prepared for sale.

The planned sale of the luxury 5ha property comes as the little girl’s troubled mother Kallista Mutten is due to appear in court this week over a home burglary with her daughter’s accused killer Justin Stein.

Kallista is back in drug rehab as she awaits her court appearance on charges of stealing firearms and a large amount of family silver.

Her life appears to have taken a wrong turn at least five months before her daughter’s alleged murder at the property.

Neighbours report a woman was in the company of Justin Stein living in ‘a brown hut’ on Wildenstein for several months in late 2021, when loud music, visitors and vehicles disturbed the tranquil Blue Mountains village.

Police allege Ms Mutten, 39, broke into a property known as Sylvan Close in Mount Wilson on the evening of August 22 last year and stole two rifles and a large amount of silver cutlery and tableware collectively worth under $60,000.

Police allege Kallista Mutten committed an aggravated burglary on a nearby Mount Wilson property with her then fiance Justin Stein, five months before he allegedly murdered her daughter Charlise

The 5ha multimillion dollar property which Justin’s brother James Stein Jnr and his husband, Keegan Buzza, ran as a wedding venue, is the scene of the alleged murder of Charlise Mutten, 9.

Police allege Justine Stein shot and killed the girl, who was staying with Kallista during school holidays, between 7pm, January 11, and 10am, January, placed her body in a barrel in the back of his red ute and dumped it 65km away on the Colo River.

Daily Mail Australia understands the property, bought in 1989 by Justin’s parents James Stein Snr and Annemie Stein, is to be put up for sale.

A real estate agent told Daily Mail Australia the property was coming on to the market soon and the alleged crime which took place there would have to be disclosed as a ‘material fact’ to prospective buyers, lowering the sale price.

The Stein family’s association with the ill-fated property began a year before Justin Stein was born, when the Steins moved from Western Australia to NSW.
