Referee Bobby Madley is set to quit the UK and emigrate to Norway after his shock exit from the Premier League.

However, mystery still surrounds the exact reasons why he will no longer be officiating in the top flight.

Fellow officials were shocked at last week’s news and not even those closest to the West Yorkshire referee were aware of him no longer being employed by their organisation, the Professional Game Match Officials Limited, whose two-line statement has also led to suspicion over the split.
Madley was elevated to the FIFA list last year – making him eligible for European fixtures and international matches – and could have had another 20 years ahead of him as a Premier League referee.
He was increasingly being appointed to high-profile games and took charge of last year’s Community Shield.
