Afterwards, detectives noticed a pink bike sticking out the trunk of a Nissan SUV.

A cell phone was also pictured on the ground near the scene.

The little girl was found in the vehicle and when they questioned her she replied that she was waiting for her father to return. She didn’t mention her mother being present.

Divers went into the water and rescuers eventually recovered Siler’s body near Lombard Circle and Columbus Boulevard at 10.43am.

As well as police, a marine unit and the fire department needed to assist.

The couple was reported to be in their 30s. A later report said Patterson was 28.

Witness, Brian Coffield, told CBS Philly: ‘I never saw something like that in my life. Not like that. I feel bad for the child growing up having to know about it, hear about it.’

Patterson’s brother said the pair were not married but had a rocky relationship that included domestic violence incidents, ABC 6 reported.

He noted that they enjoyed visiting the water but he couldn’t figure out why they would have been there so early.

A neighbor Silas described the two as being quiet.

‘No, they didn’t barely speak to anyone on the block but they weren’t mean,’ the neighbor commented to CBS Philly.

The girl was taken to Children’s Hospital for a check-up and is now in the care of her grandmother.

Authorities are still investigating.
