Body is found at Essendon metres from children’s playground

An unidentified body has been pulled from a lake just metres from a popular children’s playground. 

Dozens of young families at Woodlands Park in Essendon, northwest Melbourne, on Sunday morning were greeted with officers swarming the area.

The remains were found about 11am, prompting police to cordon off part of lake’s shoreline.

Police are yet to confirm the person’s identity and their cause of death.
