A missing NHS nurse who vanished nine days ago has been found dead 300 yards from her home, police say.

Mother-of-two Cassandra Pyatt, 26, was last seen at her home in Coventry on Tuesday, March 10. 

West Midlands Police this afternoon confirmed the discovery of a body believed to be Cassandra.

Her disappearance was described as ‘totally out of character’ and the force is not treating the death as suspicious.

The body was found in a nearby road just 300 yards from the Coventry hospital healthcare assistant’s home.

A spokesman said on Twitter: ‘A woman’s body was found in parkland off Kitchener Road, Coventry, this morning.

‘Although formal identification has not yet taken place, it is thought to be missing mum-of-two Cassandra Pyatt.

‘The 26-year-old’s family have been informed and are being supported.

‘Her death is not currently being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the coroner.’

Police issued an urgent alert for the young woman, known by friends as Cassie, on Saturday.

Officers said she had not been ‘seen or heard’ since last Tuesday.

Her mum Johanna told a local newspaper that her daughter was last seen at the family home in Foleshill on the evening of Tuesday, March 10.

She told the Coventry Telegraph: ‘She’s normally a very caring and good mother, and she has been so supportive since my husband died.

‘When I went to bed on Tuesday night (March 10) she was there and when I got up on Wednesday morning she wasn’t there.’

West Midlands Police said on Saturday: ‘Her disappearance is totally out of character and her family and friends are extremely worried about her.’

The mum was last seen wearing grey and green jeans, a light grey Superdry hoody and black Nike trainers.
