Victorian couple Amelia Wright and Lyall Bezett were holidaying in Sydney on Friday, when Lyall got down on one knee and surprised Amelia with a marriage proposal.
Unbeknownst to them, the romantic moment was captured on camera by Argentinian backpacker Martin Cervantes, who was snapping photos of the picturesque beach in the background.

Since uploading the photos to the internet on Tuesday in an effort to find the happy couple, the pictures went viral, amassing thousands of likes and shares.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday, Amelia Wright said she had no idea the moment was caught on camera.
‘I had no idea until this afternoon when one of our friends tagged us in the photo on Facebook,’ Amelia said.
‘I was in shock, I thought “Oh my God that’s actually me and I’m in my bikini”‘.
With the discovery of the photos, Amelia said the emotion of the proposal came flooding back.
‘Oh my God I was an emotional mess when I saw them,’ she said.
‘For everyone to see the emotion we felt, and to be able to share it with friends and family is incredible.’

Amelia said the proposal was ‘completely unexpected’.
‘You can actually see in the photos I’m just staring out at the view completely unaware, and the next moment he’s on his knee,’ she said.
‘I said “are you serious, are you sure? Get off your knee!”
Looking back, Amelia said there was one clue that now seemed glaringly obvious.
‘Lyall was carrying a backpack the whole way,’ he said.
‘We didn’t need a backpack so I thought it was ridiculous he was even carrying it.
‘But of course he had the ring in it.’

Lyall Bezett, originally from New Zealand, told Daily Mail Australia his plans went slightly askew simply because there were so many people at the beach when he went to propose.
‘I was actually going to do it where exactly where that guy took the photos, but it was so packed I lead her down to the rocks below,’ he said.
Lyall said he was ‘aboslutely stoked’ Mr Cervantes captured the special moment on camera.
‘A few people have made comments calling him a pervert, but we don’t care what anyone things, we’re so thankful to him,’ he said.
‘It was the best day of our lives so far, and now we’ve got that memory forever.’

It wasn’t until later that a friend pointed out to Martin he had captured a couple getting engaged in the background (pictured)
The Argentinian backpacker who accidentally captured the moment said it happened by pure chance.
‘On Friday we were walking from Tamarama Beach to Bondi Beach on the Coastal Walk. As usual, I was taking a few photos here and there which I then shared with my family and friends.’
‘Nothing out of the ordinary except that on one of them someone pointed out to me that there was a couple on the beach that looked like a guy was proposing to a girl,’ he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
Amelia Wright (pictured with her fiance Lyall) said she was shocked photos of the proposal went viral
‘It looked like it but we were not sure so I didn’t think too much of it.’
‘I got home and after downloading the photos I noticed that the photo was part of a sequence I took… it seems that, by coincidence I snapped three photos in the precise moment this guy was proposing!’
Martin said he put the photos on Facebook hoping to share the pictures with the happy couple.
‘Hopefully the six-degree-of-separation-rule will help us find them,’ he said at the time.
