Bondi produces another lottery winner, 59, who will use his prize to buy home instead of renting

Another man has won the lottery in Australia’s luckiest suburb just two months after an undertaker a few blocks away won Lotto twice in one week.

Bondi, in Sydney’s ritzy eastern suburbs, has produced its second major lottery winner since May, with a 59-year-old renter this time winning $100,000 from a Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw on Monday night.

The latest lottery winner, who wished to remain anonymous, said he would use his prize to put down a deposit on a property so he wouldn’t have to keep renting.

‘I am almost 60 and I am still renting an apartment,’ he told the Tatts Group today.

‘I have been dying to buy a property so this will help me put a deposit down, finally.

‘I am just so happy I can finally buy something.

‘It is definitely going to help me so much. I finally stand a chance of purchasing something, so that makes me ecstatic.’

With the lottery winner nearing retirement age, he would struggle to get a loan for a Bondi apartment, with prices well above the $1 million mark, unless he moves to another suburb or has plenty of savings.

He won first prize in the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10236, drawn Monday.

‘This is amazing, it is honestly unbelievable,’ he said on Tuesday morning.

‘I am feeling excellent now, I am absolutely speechless.

‘I am just shaking like crazy at the moment, I just can’t stop shaking.’

His prize was confirmed today just three days after another 59-year-old man from Bondi, Carlo Massetti, told the Weekend Sunrise about winning the top Lotto prize twice during one week in May, and taking home $2.5 million.

They were among the five Lotto prizes he had won this year to claim more $3million in prize money.

‘There’s no skill. I guess someone was looking after me,’ he told the Seven Network.

‘I just go with the systems entry. Tips I can’t give, to be honest. It just comes down to sheer luck.’

The undertaker recently donated $50,000 of his winnings to St Vincents Hospital’s heart and lung unit at Darlinghurst, after his father and two grandparents suffered multiple heart attacks.
