A star of the hit Australia TV show has died after a battle with cancer.

Bondi Rescue lifeguard Terry ‘T-Man’ McDermott passed away on September 1, it was announced in a post on the Facebook page Bondi Rescue Lifeguards on Friday.

He was described as one of ‘the nicest watermen to don a jersey.

‘This selfless man saved countless lives during his career spanning more than 30 years working at many different beaches, the tribute read.  

‘Terry, Tezzy, T-Mac, Moondoggy McDermott. Thank you for your service to the community.

‘Rest easy great man.’

Bondi Rescue lifeguard Terry ‘T-Man’ McDermott passed away surrounded by family and friends on September 1 after a battle with cancer

Mr McDermott spent 20 years working as a lifeguard on the Central Coast and 10 years patrolling the famous Bondi Beach.

He died surrounded by family and friends after a battle with cancer.

Tributes for Mr McDermott flowed from fans of the show located around the world.

‘This is truly sad. I will be praying for you, your family, and your lifeguard family. You were incredible lifeguard. I loved watching Bondi on YouTube here on the east coast in the USA. This breaks my heart,’ one international fan posted. 

‘Sending all at Bondi Rescue my deepest condolences & to Terry’s family. We have loved watching him on the show, he always seemed such a kind man,’ another person posted.
