A boom in private jet sales is being fuelled by demand from rich youngsters.

Jetcraft, which specialises in selling pre-owned private planes, said buyers under 45 accounted for 27 per cent of its sales – up from 7 per cent in 2017.

Younger tycoons switched to private jets in the pandemic to avoid infection, Jetcraft said.

But many flyers had found it ‘hard to go back’.

It said younger jet setters – influenced by the likes of Kylie Jenner, who has been criticised for her use of private jets – were also opting for larger aircraft with an average price of £23m, 31 per cent more than older buyers.

Chief executive Chad Anderson said Jetcraft saw the UK as a ‘thriving hub’ for private aircraft.

His comments come after industry executives at the Monaco Yacht Show described the ‘insatiable demand’ for luxury boats.
