Boomer the joey takes cute animal photo on Reddit

  • A photo of Boomer with his long hind legs surfaced online on Thursday
  • The little joey is seen calmly standing on what appears to be bathroom tiles
  • One Reddit user decided to share how Boomer came to be inside the house
  • A Western Australian farmer had supposedly shot Boomer’s mother
  • But the farmer noticed the baby roo and appears to have taken him in

The internet has fallen in love with a joey named Boomer but the innocent photo of the ‘cutest kangaroo’ hides a dark secret.

In the photo the young roo is seen looking off into the distance while perched on what appears to be a bathroom floor.

Titled ‘just a young roo in outback Australia,’ the image was posted with little explanation of who he is or what he’s doing posing for a photograph but one Reddit user was happy to fill in the gaps.

A photo of the young roo (pictured) looking off into the distance while perched carefully on what appears to be a bathroom floor has surfaced online, much to the delight of the internet

And sadly Boomer’s life hasn’t been as calm and sweet as the image portrays.

‘Mrsdoriangrey’ wrote: ‘Boomer (the joey’s name) was found in his mother’s pouch by the local farmer who shot the mother because she was destroying the crops.

‘Sad story but it’s just the way in mid-west WA.’

Western Australia, where the Reddit user proposes this photo was taken, is a frenzied breeding ground for kangaroos and with the cities mainly clumped along the western border, there is much room for them to roam and play.

Even if that’s on farmland.

Other commenters went on to suggest the farmer who had shot Boomer’s mother was actually the person taking the photo – and therefore the same person who rescued the infant.

‘That’s sadly a reality – kangaroos do overpopulate and do destroy grazing land. The fact that this farmer took the joey in is an amazing act of humanity not often displayed,’ wrote earl_of_lemonparty.

Some were quick to wish the young joey well: ‘That’s terrible! Hope Boomer’s being taken care of now.’

Despite his traumatic beginning to life Boomer does appear quite calm standing in close proximity to the photographer – an unlikely friend on the arid west-coast of Australia.
