Boris and Carrie’s £1.3m love nest as couple snap up four-bedroom Victorian house

This is the £1.3m love nest bought Boris Johnson and his girlfriend Carrie Symonds, MailOnline can reveal.

The Victorian semi-detached home is in one of London’s most fashionable areas and less than three miles from the Houses of Parliament.

Former PR girl executive Carrie was seen moving furniture into the four-bedroom home with her mother Josephine Mcaffee on Friday.

The three-storey red brick house overlooking a park is about a mile from the flat she and Johnson shared in Camberwell, south east London.

Boris, 55, (left) and his 31-year-old girlfriend Carrie (right) are said to have bought the property because they are ‘keen to put down roots together’ a year after their romance was revealed

The couple completed on the property last week after deciding to ‘put down roots’ together a year after their romance was revealed.

Their new house is described as a ‘beautiful period residence offering an abundance of character’.

It features two receptions rooms, four double bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is also a ground floor toilet.

Describing it as ‘a superb residence’, the sales brochure says: ‘The property is in a fantastic location for city life while continuing to be located in calm, green spaces within a close-knit community.’

Boris, who was installed as PM today after trouncing Jeremy Hunt in the race to be Tory Party leader, is unlikely to live at the house for the foreseeable future as he’ll move into 10 Downing Street.

A local resident confirmed the sale, telling MailOnline: ‘One of the neighbours told me last week that Boris and his girlfriend had bought the property. I can’t say I’m thrilled about it.’

Neighbours of the Camberwell property said it had been empty for almost a year and on the market for several months.

‘No one has been there for a long time, about a year, said one. ‘The first we knew it had sold was when the ‘For Sale’ sign came down.

‘Then a man turned up and cut the hedge back that was badly overgrown.. We have no idea who has bought the house as we didn’t see people coming and going.’

When told it was likely to be the new PM, the neighbour added: ‘Well that’s a surprise.’

Others were unaware of the identity of the new buyer while the estate agent handling the sale refused to comment.

Some living near the period property in a neighbouring block of flats had mixed feelings about their new neighbours.

One said: ‘He will not find many Tories around here. Personally I can’t stand the man and I’d rather he live somewhere else.’

Another said he was quite happy as it would lead to an increased police presence.

‘There’s not a lot of crime round here, but what there is will go down as police will have to keep watch,’ said the resident who is in his fifties.

Boris had not been seen visiting the house while it was up for sale.

And in the past week there had been no sign of the police bodyguards that he was assigned during his election campaign for the Tory leadership.

Symonds and Johnson had been living in a £675,000 flat in Camberwell as he launched his leadership election bid.

They had set up home together after Johnson and his wife Marina Wheeler began divorce proceedings.

His former marital home in Islington is on the market for £3.75 and if sold the new PM is expected to net a profit of £700,000.

Symonds is thought to have moved out of previous residence after a late-night row with Boris which saw police being called after neighbours reported hearing screaming and shouting.

The row is thought have started over red wine being spilt on a sofa with Symonds heard shouting ‘get off me’ and Boris telling her to get off his laptop.

The couple made no comment about the incident and many other neighbours were shocked to discover Johnson was living there.

Carrie is expected to move into No 10 with Boris with friends saying they are close as ever despite the row.
