Boris Johnson has put his north London home on the market as he readies himself to fight to become the next Prime Minister of the UK.

The 54-year-old has listed the Islington property for a cool £3.75million, which means he could make a profit of nearly £2million, after purchasing the four bedroom end of terrace house for £1.9million in 2005.

Monthly mortgage repayments on the property would come in at around £17,629 for the home that the MP previously shared with his ex Marina Wheeler.

In January this year the property had been put up for rent, which would have cost the new tenants an eye watering £2,000 a week.

Boris Johnson’s £3 million palatial former marital home in a leafy corner of north London is now up for sale. It had been shared with his wife Marina Wheeler until last year following their split amid claims of infidelity

The historic property, nestled next to Regent’s Canal in Islington, which provided the setting for the MP and his Eurosceptic colleagues to fight the campaign, was shared with his wife before the pair split last year.

The property is being sold by Chessertons in Islington and is described as a ‘stunning Grade II listed, Georgian end of terrace family house.’

The lavish home has an open plan kitchen and also offers over five floors of space with traditional Georgian features with a modern touch.

On the first floor of the property, there is a beautiful master bedroom with two sash windows to the front, which overlook the gardens of Duncan Terrace.

There is also a door which opens to the private roof terrace which boasts wonderful views of the canal.

Other features include a main family bathroom with walk in shower cubicle and a separate bath, as well as a glamorous walk in wardrobe.

The property is within a great location to the city and central London and is close to Angel tube station as well as Highbury and Islington station, where a number or local and national services go from.

Earlier this week Johnson’s leadership campaign was bolstered by the backing of former defence secretary Gavin Williamson.

Mr Williamson is not yet making a public endorsement, but sources said he was playing an active role in bringing MPs into the Boris camp.

Allies of Mr Johnson hope the recruitment of the former chief whip – who is well known for his organisational skills and network of supportive MPs – could yet prove a critical factor in the leadership race.
