Borussia Dortmund starlet Jude Bellingham ‘will hold talks with the club over lucrative new deal’ – with extension ‘doubling wages to £85,000 and including hefty buyout clause in blow to Liverpool and Man City’

  • Borussia Dortmund are set to reward Jude Bellingham with a lucrative new deal
  • A two-year contract extension will reportedly be offered to the talented starlet
  • Bellingham would see his wages doubled to around £85,000 should he agree
  • The fresh terms also come with a hefty buyout clause in a blow to keen suitors

Borussia Dortmund’s teenage sensation Jude Bellingham is set to hold talks with the club over signing a new contract, according to reports.

Bellingham, 17, enjoyed a fine season in the Bundesliga after leaving boyhood team Birmingham last summer – and his progress has led Dortmund to table an extension.

The Mirror claim that his wages will be doubled, taking the figure to roughly £85,000-per-week, and the new deal will also feature a significant buyout clause.

It is believed the fresh terms will see Bellingham commit to an extra two years at Dortmund, taking his stay there until 2025.

The move may come as a blow to the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, who have both been credited with interest in the starlet.

Chelsea are another club linked with a move for Bellingham, who joined Dortmund for £25million, with Eurosport claiming the Blues were plotting a £100m move.

Bellingham was handed an important first-team role immediately after his arrival, and the midfielder went on to make 46 appearances in all competitions.

Having caught the eye against City in the Champions League, and helped Dortmund to DFB-Pokal success, Bellingham has emerged as one of the world’s best talents.

As a result of his rising reputation, Dortmund will be reluctant to let Bellingham leave – and the new deal signals their intention of keeping him for the long-term.

Bellingham is also expected to be given opportunities to shine for England at Euro 2020 this summer, having been named in Gareth Southgate’s final 26-man squad.

The prodigy has won four international caps so far, after making his debut from the bench against the Republic of Ireland last November.

His first senior start came in the warm-up clash against Austria last week, and team-mate Kalvin Phillips believes the ‘sky’s the limit’ for him.

‘I’ve definitely not (seen) a 17-year-old that is as talented as what he is,’ Phillips told talkSPORT.

‘You look at him and you can’t quite believe that he’s 17 years old, you can’t believe because he’s so big, he’s so strong, so powerful.

‘He’s a very nice lad as well so it’s nice to rub shoulders with a young lad who is doing so well, and now the sky’s the limit for him.’

Bellingham is likely to start on the bench in the Three Lions’ opening game of the tournament against Croatia on Sunday.

Sportsmail understands Raheem Sterling is expected to be named in the XI, however, with a feeling in the camp Jack Grealish will also be among the substitutes.
