Botched jetski rescue mission caught on camera

This is the dramatic moment a botched jetski rescue attempt was caught on camera after a surfer riding a 70-foot wave plummets into the sea.

The failed rescue attempt was filmed using a drone after professional surfer Pedro ‘Scooby’ Vianna fell into the sea during a storm in Nazaré, Portugal.

The Brazilian was making the most of the huge waves and was seen zooming along at 45 miles per hour on his surfboard, with a 70-foot mountain of water looming behind him.

Suddenly a spume nips his board, which sends him crashing under the massive wave and underneath the swell of water.

Scooby’s friend and fellow Brazillian Lucas ‘Chumbo’ Chianca then rides the jetski to save him but he loses control and himself falls into the choppy water just as Scooby grabs onto the rear tow board latched onto the jetski.

Chumbo is pushed dangerously close to rocks after falling into the water, forcing professional surfer Everaldo ‘Pato’ Teixeira to enter the water on his own jetski to save the pair and bring them to shore one at a time. None of the surfers were injured by the incident.

The footage has become one of the highlights of the Big Wave Season and went viral after it was used on a Red Bull Production and later licensed to National Geographic, reaching 20 million views in few days.
