Boxer reveals BRUTAL eye injury he suffered after taking ‘multiple head blows’

Russian heavyweight boxer Arslanbek Makhmudov showed his brutal eye injury after losing to Guido Vianello on Saturday at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City.

The ringside doctor was forced to stop the fight on Makhmudov’s behalf as the swelling around his left eye got concerningly worse in the eighth round.

Days after the TKO loss, the Mozdok native showed the damage on his Instagram and shared how he suffered ‘multiple head blows’ in the leadup to his defeat.

‘After multiple head blows, my left eye was completely closed, which is why I couldn’t see all the attacks from the right and the doctor stopped the fight in the 8th round,’ he wrote.

‘Alhamdulillah in any position,’ Makhmudov added. ‘[I] did everything I could.’

The photo shows Makhmudov’s eye completely shut. Meanwhile, a mosaic of black and blue bulged out of his face due to the swelling.

Vianello landed right hands at will throughout the fight, causing the Russian knockout artist’s eye to shut completely.

At the end of the seventh round, Makhmudov looked visibly hurt and shaky. At the 2:58 mark of the eighth, the doctor waived the contest off to avoid further damage.

The loss would be the second in his career. His first defeat came in a TKO loss to Agit Kabayel in December, which he avenged in May with a second-round knockout over Miljan Rovcanin.

Makhmudov now holds a 19-2 record with 18 finishes.

He won the WBC Continental Americas heavyweight title in his eighth pro bout on May 17, 2019. Five months later, Makhmudov won the WBC-NABF heavyweight title and embarked on nine straight title fights – winning them all before the loss to Kabayel in Saudi Arabia.
