A 13-year-old boy has been remembered as a ‘sweet and loving’ child after he was hit by a car and killed while crossing the road. 

Liam Rainbird died on Friday when he was struck on his way home from school in Springfield Central, south-east Brisbane. 

Liam’s auntie, Danni Simpson, said his brother was also rushed to hospital at roughly the same time due to an ‘unrelated incident’.

Miss Simpson did not say what happened by said Bailey is expected to make a full recovery. 

Liam’s mother Kellie is expecting another child in just two months, Miss Simpson revealed.

In a moving Instagram post showing pictures of her and Liam together, she described her nephew as ‘sweet and loving’. 

‘Liam I’m at a loss for words to describe the heartache I feel knowing you were taken from our family too soon,’ she wrote. 

‘You were the sweetest, most loving child who brought us happiness since the day you were born. 

‘When I seen you last you were so excited to be a big brother to the bub on the way.’ 

Miss Simpson has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the family.
