Boy, 15, is fighting for his life in hospital after he was stabbed in north London

A 15-year-old boy was fighting for his life today after becoming the latest victim of London’s knife crime epidemic when he was stabbed in broad daylight.

The teenager was taken to hospital after being stabbed shortly after 11am this morning at the Broadwater Farm Estate in Haringey, North London.

His parents were told about the incident and road closures have been put in place by Scotland Yard detectives who are investigating, but no one has been arrested.

The London Ambulance Service sent an ambulance crew, a medic in a car and an incident response officer to the scene, along with an air ambulance helicopter.

The boy was taken to hospital by road ambulance following the incident on the estate, which is near Bruce Grove train station on the London Overground.

Police officers and detectives were behind a cordon this afternoon, with nearby   alleyways also blocked off and a police dog and handler seen looking for clues. 

A police spokesman said: Police were called at 11.14am on Friday to reports of a stabbing at Willan Road, N17. Officers and London Ambulance Service attended.

‘At the scene a boy was found suffering from stab wounds. He has been taken to hospital and is currently in a critical condition. We await further updates.

‘Cordons are closures are in place and officers remain on scene at this time.’

Today’s stabbing follows two murders in London earlier this week – of Santino Angelo, 18, in Newham on Monday, and Lee Casey, 39, in Brixton yesterday.

Those deaths took the capital’s 2019 murder count to 92 as politicians and police struggle to deal with knife crime in what has been labelled ‘Wild West’ Britain.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: ‘We were called at 11:14am today to reports of an incident at a residential address on Willan Road, Tottenham.

‘We sent an ambulance crew, a medic in a car and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

‘We treated a person at the scene and took them to hospital by road.’ 

Broadwater Farm is the location of the infamous riots in October 1985 that saw PC Keith Blakelock stabbed to death as 500 police battled with youths.
