A 12-year-old boy severed his foot on a summer toboggan ride in Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia after his leg got stuck between the sleigh and the track.
The incident took place at the Fort Fun Adventureland in the Sauerländer forests, some 60 miles east of Dortmund on Saturday.
The boy had been on the Trapper Slider, a track that runs 1.3km (0.8miles) down the side of the mountain, making it the longest toboggan run in a park in Europe.

It is not known what caused the accident, but somehow, the boy’s foot became trapped between the toboggan and the track as he was riding down the mountain.
The Fort Fun Adventureland boasts that the ride ‘guarantees 1.3 kilometers of fun downhill steeply, with jumps and lots of curves’.
It is not known if the boy had been riding alone on the toboggan, but the Trapper Slider states that children over the age of eight and taller than 4ft3in can ride without an accompanying adult.
The boy was flow by helicopter to a nearby hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The Trapper Slider remains closed while the amusement park investigates the cause of the incident.’
‘The safety and well-being of our guests are always our top priority. Our thoughts are with the child and his parents,’ the amusement park said according to The Local.
‘Like all our rides, the toboggan ride Trapper Slider is subject to strict safety regulations and is regularly inspected.’
The Local reported that the same ride has previously been involved in an incident where a young boy was seriously injured. The victim had his arm cut off in an accident on the Trapper Slider in 2000, caused by a crack on the slide going unnoticed.
