A three-year-old boy is in a critical condition after being hit by a van.
The toddler sustained a head injury and paramedics were forced to perform CPR at the scene in Sydney’s north-west suburb of Ryde.
It is believed the van ran over the boy on Bygrave Street, Ryde, at around 5pm before he was rushed to Westmead Children’s Hospital.

A Careflight helicopter carrying a critical care medical team landed on a nearby oval just nine minutes after the alarm was raised.
Police were already on the scene and cleared cricket players off the field mid-match.
The Careflight emergency doctor elected to rush the boy to hospital by road with a police escort.
