A young boy has been killed after he was hit by his father’s car on a farm in New Zealand.
Alex Mackle was about to celebrate his 10th birthday when he was ran over by a car in the coastal town of Kaikoura.
It is believed Alex’s father Simon left the car to move some cattle standing at the gate and the car started to roll backwards according to Stuff.

The nine-year-old tried to escape the and fell over underneath the moving vehicle and was killed.
The farmer carried his son’s body to the road to get help as there was no phone reception in the area.
His mother was planning his birthday party at the time of the farm accident.
‘Alex was a loving little guy with a cheerful nature and a cheeky smile. He loved his family and friends and being outdoors,’ his family wrote in a statement.
‘Words cannot express the heartbreak that we are feeling right now.’
‘It’s hard to put into words, it’s more than a shock. It’s a devastating loss for everyone, the whole community, not only the family,’ a spokesman for the family said.
The boy’s death has been referred to the coroner and Work safe are investigating the death.
