‘She’s so terribly charismatic and beautiful’: Bradley Cooper gushes over A Star Is Born co-star Lady Gaga after THAT Oscars performance… yet determinedly denies romance claims

Bradley Cooper has gushed over his A Star Is Born co-star Lady Gaga following romance rumours surrounding the pair in 2019.

The duo starred together as a famous couple in the movie remake back in 2018 before taking to the stage at the Oscars the following year, where life imitated art with a steamy performance of Shallow.

While the duo remained largely silent on romance rumours, Bradley, 46, has now spoken out on the claims –  insisting they were merely in character – yet did concede to say of Gaga: ‘She’s so terribly charismatic and beautiful’.

Oh! Bradley Cooper has gushed over his A Star Is Born co-star Lady Gaga following romance rumours surrounding the pair in 2019

In a new chat for The Hollywood Reporter, Bradley addressed past romance rumours and their very intimate performance at the Oscars which sent tongues wagging.

Gaga and the actor and filmmaker grew close while making the movie and many wondered if there was more than just a friendship there as they did a duet of Shallow at the Academy Awards featuring plenty of adoring stares and cuddling.

Cooper insisted that the pair were acting as he had conceived the performance to play out like a scene from a movie to help control his fears of singing live.

Cooper said: ‘Just from a personal standpoint, it reduces the anxiety level.

‘They kind of fall in love in that scene in the film. It’s that explosive moment that happens to happen to them on a stage in front of thousands of people. … It would have been so weird if we were both on stools facing the audience.’

In the film Cooper plays a musician named Jack who helps a young singer named Ally (Gaga) find fame  as age and alcoholism send his own career into a downward spiral.

He gushed about working with the Bad Romance hitmaker despite many critics who felt the role was ‘stunt casting’ at the time.

He said: ‘A Star Is Born is such a specific thing, and there was always a meta element to the project. She’s just so terribly charismatic and beautiful…

‘When I met her, I thought, “If I can just harness that… then it’s just for me to mess up.” But then, when we started working together, I realized, “Oh, oh, the sky’s the limit in terms of what she’s able to do and her commitment level.”‘

Gaga is once again at the center of Award Season chatter for her role in House Of Gucci.

In the upcoming Ridley Scott directed film, Gaga portrays high-fashion socialite Patrizia Reggiani who famously plotted the death of her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci (played Adam Driver) after leaving her for a younger woman.

To get into character Gaga – who has been open about having PTSD after being raped by a music producer 20 years her senior – used her real life trauma to driver her performance in front of the camera.

She said: ‘I took the pain I feel from being attacked when I was a young girl, from feeling left behind by people that I love, from feeling trapped that I can’t go out into a world that I love. I took that pain and I gave it to her.’
