Bradley Walsh’s son lands lucrative gigs sparking bidding war between BBC and ITV

Bradley Walsh’s son is catching up on father’s £18.6million fortune after landing a number of lucrative gigs, featuring a bidding war between the BBC and ITV

As the king of entertainment television, Bradley Walsh has amassed a fortune of £18.6million.

But his son Barney may be catching up after landing a number of lucrative gigs – and, like his dad, featuring in a bidding war between the BBC and ITV.

Sources say that Walsh Junior is being ‘inundated’ with offers after catapulting to fame next to his father on their ITV series Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad, which sees the pair take on challenges while travelling the world in a camper van.

Later this year, the Walshes will reunite to host the reboot of the popular 90s show Gladiators, which will air on the BBC on Saturday nights – a potential ‘shop window’ for the 25-year-old to secure even bigger shows than his father.

Barney, whose mother is choreographer Donna Derby, also stars as the hapless trainee nurse Cameron Mickelthwaite on the BBC drama Casualty.

He was a contestant on Catchphrase and played Ryan Cook in an episode of BBC hit Death In Paradise.

Last year he once again appeared alongside The Chase host Bradley on the ITV remake of The Darling Buds of May, The Larkins, in which he played PC Harness.

Barney inherited the acting bug as a child, attending acting school in Essex and landing his first audition, aged 12, for the Artful Dodger in a West End production of Oliver! He made his feature film debut playing a Young Arthur in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword.

Earlier this week, it was revealed Bradley, 63, is worth an estimated £18.6million. A TV insider said: ‘Bradley really is at the top of his game right now and is raking it in. He’s the go-to man for both the BBC and ITV; now it’s his son’s turn.’

While Barney started off on ITV, the BBC viewed him as a potential star. Securing his role on Casualty is viewed as a ‘coup’ by corporation bosses who are desperate to find versatile young talent.
