The Queen Of Hearts evidently became a villain because of her past – so Chloe and Red have to embark on a spot of time travel in the course of their adventures.

There have previously been three Descendants movies, all of them revolving around the children of characters from the old Disney animated classics.

The fictional world of the movies includes a kingdom called Auradon – as well as an Isle Of The Lost where the Disney villains’ children live.

Originally the Descendants movies were a trilogy, premiering on the Disney Channel across four years between 2015 and 2019.

All three of them were directed by Kenny Ortega, whose work for the Disney Channel includes the beloved TV movie High School Musical.

Kenny, who also directed Hocus Pocus, is returning to the Descendants franchise for its upcoming fourth instalment, which has not yet been given a release date.

Rodgers And Hammerstein originally wrote their Cinderella musical for television in the 1950s, when the title character was played by Julie Andrews.
