Brazilian ‘drug gang’ livestream their deaths on Facebook

This is the moment a suspected drugs gang live streamed their own deaths on Facebook when a police helicopter opened fire on their car in Brazil. 

The four youths were filming themselves inside a vehicle when it was peppered with bullets by armed officers in Rio de Janeiro during a crackdown on trafficking.

The four youths were filming themselves inside a vehicle when it was peppered with bullets by armed officers in Rio de Janeiro during a crackdown on trafficking

The music suddenly cuts out and is soon replaced by the sound of gunfire although at first the teenagers do not appear concerned.

The phone then falls to the floor of the car, the image obscured, while the sound of shooting continues.

It is thought that three of the suspects died as a result of the shooting while a fourth was injured.

They are believed to have been suspects in an operation against drug trafficking in the city.

The footage was later posted online where police were applauded for their actions.

Rio de Janiero has long had a problem with criminal gangs who are based in the city’s many slums, or favelas, and often target tourist hotspots.

It was not clear why the police opened fire on the youths without attempting an arrest, or whether their actions were legal.
