Brendan Fevola has revealed an unflattering holiday snap where he looked ‘four months pregnant’ inspired him to shed a whopping 19 kilograms in 16 weeks.
The former AFL star said it looked like he was about to ‘blow up’ in a photo of him lying on a sunlounger during a Bali getaway last July.
The 37-year-old radio host and father-of-three overhauled his diet and lifestyle and said he now feels ‘healthy and happy’.
‘It looked like I was four months pregnant!’ Brendan Fevola has revealed the unflattering snap that inspired him to drop a whopping 19kg in just 16 weeks
Discussing what sparked his remarkable transformation, he told Today Extra hosts David Campbell and Sonia Kruger: ‘I went away to Bali on a trip with thefamily over our school holiday period.
‘Alex [his wife] and I were getting Insta photos and Insta stories about each other pretty much taking the Mickey out of each other.
‘There was one where I was laying on the couch. I had fallen asleep. It looked like I was four months pregnant.’
He continued: ‘She posted it on her Instagram. I went, “Oh my God, I’m going to blow up, I need to do something.” ‘
And Brendan was no doubt irked by Alex’s affectionate caption, in which she compared the former football star to beer-guzzling cartoon character Homer Simpson.
The former sportsman began a diet with Jenny Craig at the end of September last year and shed a ‘lot of weight’.
‘I’m feeling healthy, feeling happy and I feel good,’ he said. ‘I’ve taken on the diet. It is a really amazing menu. I didn’t think I would like the food a diet but with Jenny Craig the food is absolutely beautiful.’
He revealed he was almost 128 kilos at his largest, and had difficulty running around after his two daughters Leni and Lulu and stepdaughter Mia.
‘I was 128 kilos almost. I was fairly big. Being an athlete I wasn’t able to go out with the kids and play in the backyard,’ he confessed.
‘When we took them to the pool I was get puffed out. When we went for walks I would get puffed out. I have all the energy.
‘I have got no muscles any more but I have lost the weight. I’m all active with the kids. I feel really good. I feel healthy. And I feel like I’m back 20 again, which is great.’
He admitted he piled on the weight while working in radio, where companies send in junk food like ‘pancakes, burgers, chips and pizzas’ – and has now ditched the bad stuff in favour of muesli bars.
