Ivan Toney has teased Arsenal fans with a potential move to the club after he appeared to be celebrating their late winner against Luton last night.

The Brentford striker posted a snap of himself watching the Gunners in action last night as they came back to win 4-3 in a thrilling encounter thanks to Declan Rice’s 96th minute header.

He captioned the now deleted Instagram post: ‘@DeclanRice. What a game [heart eyes emoji].’

The England international, who continues to be linked with a January move to Arsenal, is currently serving an eight month ban from football after admitting 232 betting offences.

However, Toney – who scored 20 goals during the 2022-23 Premier League campaign – will be allowed to return to playing from January 17 onwards.

Arsenal fans were quick to share their exictement at the news, with one person writing on X: ‘Ivan Toney at Arsenal will be madness, if they go on to be winter champions and he joins in January, they are DEFINITELY winning the League.’

Another also added: ‘Ivan Toney is loving the Declan Rice winner. Come to the red carpet my guy, he can assist you too you know.’

Previously, Ian Wright has claimed that Arsenal will only compete with Man City for the Premier League title this season if they sign Ivan Toney in January.

‘We spread goals out last season and it took us to a certain place,’ he told The Overlap’s Stick To Football podcast with Sky Bet.

‘I think with Toney the links won’t go away as it’s blatantly obvious to see, that focal point that player who scores, that takes you somewhere else.

‘You can’t question the endeavour of Eddie (Nketiah) or (Gabriel) Jesus but you look back at the Tottenham game with the Jesus chance. For a player of that calibre to be in that position 1-0 up, those chances have to be buried.

‘The margins are so small now you can’t afford to be missing chances like and that and not winning games. The work off the ball is fantastic for both players.

‘The Toney links don’t go away because for me that is the last piece of the jigsaw. He’ll do it if it can be done.’
